| Joe Lalor | Jul 30 2022, 6:08pm | Again this year "End of League Handicap Race" is Mountain Meithal Fundraiser. For those of you new to IMRA this handicap race is for those you have completed the summer league (to have been deemed as a league finisher you will need to have done 7 races). Non league finishers may also take part but will not be given a handicap time. Race starts at 7pm with the slower runners building up to to the faster runners at 7.30. Non league finishers will start at 7.30. Handicap times will not be calculated until after final league race. This event, as usual, is being run as a fundraiser for Mountain Meitheal, the mountain path building team. Entry is online only at €10. If you cannot make the race you might consider buying an entry to support this cause which we all benefit from. I am looking for a first aider volunteer and several marshall. Start and finish at Pier Gates carpark. Route about 10km takes in Whites Hill and upper Ballinastoe. Short course available |
| Joe Lalor | Aug 8 2022, 10:16am | Don't forget you have to register online for this event before 7pm tomorrow as a runner or supporter. Start times will be calculated after I have a completed list of entries. As a rule of thumb if you finished near the bottom of the league you will be off near 7, if towards the top you will be off after 7.30 with plenty of scope to catch the early starts. Non league runners will be started at the starters discretion but will not be eligible for a prize (first 3 M/F home). There will be a non competitive short course that will also suit juniors. |

Start times will be published after then. Remember your start time is solely based on how you finished in Leinster League. There will be a few surprises. |

Times are based on a rough drawl of your past form, in some cases based on only one race, so not to be taken too seriously. Some were short courses but I’ve checked with Conor who confirmed they counted. I’ve done my 2 non running helper stints also. Won’t get to race tonight but just wondering . | Joe Lalor | Aug 11 2022, 10:11am | First the "thanks yous" All the volunteers who did a great job in the heat Mr Peter Kennedy (car park owner) who treated us very fairly All of those you bought entries just to support the cause . And finally all of you who survived the maze. Re the course, there couldn't have been more plastic out there, however visibility was definitely a problem. At start on entering forest sunglasses went black causing some to miss turn into forest and going up boardwalk I tried so hard to avoid. On open mountain the low push into flags were hard to see in the low sun. Results will be initially posted here (shortly),it may be some time before they officially appear on website database. There were many and varied routes taken last night, I will be making no attempt to reflect this in the results. It was I hope a fun event with no real competitive standing. Prizes were awarded (first 3 M/F) on the bases of League finishers only. I hope you enjoyed some element of your lap of White Hill |

A well-marked course and a feast for the senses taking in varied terrain - it took time for my eyes to adjust from the gloomy forest floor to the bright hillsides, with purple heath set against clear blue skies. I am already looking forward to my next outing. |

This will give the correct order of finishing in the handicap race, the purpose of the exercise. This will NOT be your running time so don't be emailing me. I will later publish actual running time on this forum for interest but they won't be enter in the IMRA database |
