Connacht Champs 2022

AuthorDateMessage
Anne-Marie FlahertyJun 13 2022, 1:57pmHi everyone!

The 2022 Connacht Champs are just around the corner and Alice (Mweelrea) and myself (Nephin) would be thrilled to get our volunteer crews sorted for the weekend.

In particular a First Aid volunteer and a couple of helpers for registration and finish line and summit marshal(s).

It's always a fantastic couple of days down Wesht and you can be guaranteed two great races, the Aprés Run festivities are also very highly recommended!

We'll have more details about the weekend soon.

Looking forward to seeing you down in Mayo next month.
Luke McMullanJun 13 2022, 2:23pmHey Ann-Marie.

I'm happy to help out at Mweelrea, and plan to run Nephin - missed Day2 a few years ago and still have fomo :). I could help with taking results at the finish line potentially? I've not done the Laptop Training but from memory it's just manual time recording at the finish line yes? Will I register under the Event if that's the case? Let me know.

Many thanks,
Luke
Anne-Marie FlahertyJun 13 2022, 2:45pmHI Luke,

That would be fantastic, we're sorted with laptop operator for the weekend, but could definitely do with someone to help with manual number recording.

If you pop your name in under the event that would be great, any problems just pop up another message and we can add you in.

Thanks a million!
Luke McMullanJun 13 2022, 4:15pmDone - thanks Ann-Marie. Looking forward :)
Anne-Marie FlahertyJun 17 2022, 9:32amThanks a million to everyone who has volunteered so far!

We're still looking for a first aid volunteer for each race and one or two more non-running helpers.

There will be cake!
Alice ClancyJun 22 2022, 4:24pmHi All, the Connaught Champs are fast approaching!

We need a few more running and non-running volunteers at both races, thanks to everyone who has signed up already!

There is space booked in a campsite in Lecanvy for the 1st-3rd July. The campsite is at the base of Croagh Patrick and within walking distance of the pier and beach at Lecanvy. It has an great firepit which will host the annual Connaught Champs bbq on the evening of Sat 2nd July.

All are welcome for camping or bbq or both - if you're interested, please drop me an email at alice dot clancy at imra dot ie
Rachel CinnsealachJun 24 2022, 1:19pmHi Alice and Annmarie,

I have just volunteered for both races. I would like to do summit marshal on both days.

Rachel CinnsealachJun 24 2022, 1:22pmFolks, this is a cracking weekend of running and socialising. One of the best weekends of the year, for anyone "One the fence" come down, run or volunteer, camp over enjoy the BBQ and enjoy!
Laura FlynnJun 24 2022, 6:45pmAlice, can you add me to camping and bbq Saturday night please and thanks for organising,
Anne-Marie, I’ve put my name down to help at Nephin.
Anne-Marie FlahertyJun 24 2022, 7:34pmHi Rachel, that's fantastic! You're saving me a conundrum for Nephin, if there's anyone who'd like to join you too for company let me know and I can pop their name in.

Thanks a million, Laura, that's great!

Looking forward to the weekend, hopefully the weather gods are kind to us!
Richard FoxJun 24 2022, 8:20pmHello. I’ll be around on Sunday if any more help needed. Will need a lift to Nephin though (from the Lecanvy camp site) unless I decide to cycle the 48 k directly.
Cheers

Paul FlynnJun 26 2022, 8:32amHi Alice, Anne-Marie,

Could I ask what sort of map is required to pass mandatory kit check? Is it good enough to print off the map on the event page and put it in a waterproof pouch?

Thanks,
Paul
Alice ClancyJun 27 2022, 10:29amHi all, thanks for the volunteer sign ups!

The weather forecast has improved somewhat....it's all to play for over the week...will the summit of mweelrea actually be visible on Sat?!

@ Richard, thanks that's great, yes I'm sure lifts to Nephin can be arranged!

@Paul, that map uploaded on the imra site is low-res, and wouldn't be of a good enough quality to use for navigation. Best bet if you don't want to carry the full map is to make your own high-res scan of a map of the area to print and use in a waterproof cover.
Luke McMullanJun 27 2022, 2:50pmWould like to carpool to this event (don't mind driving myself, or sharing with someone else driving to share fuel/toll costs). Have added a listing to the carpool section of website - 089 258 4699 is my number if you'd like to join me, or be able to offer me a lift. Thanks :)
Stuart ScottJun 27 2022, 5:04pmThere are still a few spots left for the camping and bbq so if anyone's on the fence, please let Alice know asap! As Rachel says, this is one of the best IMRA weekends of the year!
Fíona CanavanJun 29 2022, 10:13amHello!
I'm over in Louisburgh from Scotland this weekend; have signed up to Nephin but would be happy to volunteer at Mweelrea, as I'm not quite up to doing the double, if any more volunteers are needed?
Anne-Marie FlahertyJun 29 2022, 11:59amHi Fiona,

That's brilliant, it would be great to have another volunteer for Saturday.

Thanks!
