Volunteering appeal

Brendan LawlorApr 21 2022, 11:46amHi everyone

A big thank you to Angela and her team of volunteers for a great opening Wednesday race last night at Belmont - it was good to be back to sunny Wednesday evening racing!

We have lots of races coming up on both Wednesday's and the weekends. We also have several new Race Directors taking the plunge in the coming weeks. All of these races will need volunteers and in particular each race will need a Race Marker, a Laptop Operator and a First Aider. Please take a look at the upcoming schedule and pick a race or two or more where you can volunteer to help out. If you are nursing an injury, volunteering at a race or two is a great way to stay connected with IMRA.

If you are new to IMRA volunteering is the best way to meet other people in the association and to understand what goes on behind the scenes. The best rule of thumb is that you should volunteer (non running) once for each 7-8 races you participate in.

Running volunteers (including Race Markers who might want to run the course they marked if they have the energy) are also very useful as parking marshals and registration and finish line / tidy up helpers. Note that running volunteering does not count to your end of year prize (assuming there is one this year) or your online volunteering record

So come on people, help out our stressed Race Directors and get your names down for those upcoming races !
