Route Description:
The Slieve Bloom Way Ultra is approximately 72 km loop with 1,275 m of climbing, starting and finishing in Clonaslee. The course combines endurance with heritage, carrying runners through villages and landscapes that define the Slieve Bloom Mountains.

Highlights include the waterfalls of Glenbarrow, source of the River Barrow, the ancient woodlands of Monicknew, the historic village of Kinnitty, and Cadamstown on the Silver River. The mountains themselves are among the oldest in Europe, shaped over 400 million years, with today’s highest point at Arderin (527 m).

Runners will tackle a mix of quiet lanes, singletrack trails, forest paths, open bog, and farmland, with sweeping views across Laois and Offaly. Every step blends natural beauty, history, and the challenge of the mountains.

Please login to myIMRA to volunteer to help at this event. You should aim to volunteer at least once for every 10 events that you run.

Volunteers (Running)

Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
