Route Description:
Please bring a spade if you have one - Simon will demonstrate how to plant the trees - Wear warm clothes encouraged -1 / 1.15 hrs total time -Plan is to work in teams planting 10 trees per team https://www.plotaroute.com/routeprofile/2133499
Getting There:
N11 to KIlmac R755 -left at Tourquois Cafe, L1036 Ballinstoe Mountain Bike centre.
Organisers Instructions:
Our inaugural Tree Planting initiative will take place in conjuction with Wicklow Wolf Brewery at their Hops farm on the slopes of Djouce Mountain. IMRA has a pool of money donated by you the membership though our carbon offset option when purchasing a race, and the plan is to plant 250 native trees initially. there will be the option of a group run at 9.00 am at Ballinstoe for anyone who wants to get a run in before. ( 10 km approx. ), Otherwise, meet at 10.45 and car pool from Ballinstoe mountain bike centre to the hops farm (5 mins) - Wear boots (for those who are will be using the spades not shovels!)
Prizegiving Location:
Tourquois Cafe, Ballinstoe Crossroads, Roundwood 12.45 IMRA is sponsoring food for all the tree planting volunteers after. (Its a vegetarian restaurant on the Roundwood road and normally has a farmers market there on Sundays), Menu: vegetarian curry in outdoor seating area with a pit fire.

You need to have done 2 non-running volunteer roles in a calendar year to qualify for end of year prize

Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
