Slaney Olympic where the team of the day with the husband and wife team of Tom and Dina Hogan taking the honours in the male and female senior events. The race was held in the beautiful setting of Mount Leinster Carlow. The course was once again top class and the race route marking over the 10km left it impossible for even the most novice of trail runners to get lost. Most of the field contained Wexford runners with a few from Carlow and the odd Dublin accent was scattered throughout the eager bunch. Weather was overcast but perfect for the race with the rain staying away.In the mens race 4 athletes went out at the start and stayed away till the finish with Tom Hogan coming through just after the half way mark to open up a 20 second gap. Keith Heary and Tommy McElwaine of SBR fought side by side all the way till the last 400m where Keith pulled away. Willie Rossiter of SBR came through to take 4th position.
In the womens race there was to be no denying Dina Hogan who followed the example set by her husband and lead for most of the race. Slaney Olympic also took second place with Mary Doyle taking the honours, Mary O Colmain took 3rd place for Crusaders and was also first f50.
