The Leinster cross-country championships were held in Tymon Park. In the junior womens race, Breda McDonald (North Laois) had a good run in 14th place. In the junior mens race, Jonathan Phillips (Sli Cualann) was 2nd, Michael Dowling (Sli Cualann) 8th, and Richard Owens (Sli Cualann) 10th giving Sli Cualann an excellent but agonising second place in the team race only one point behind winners Donore.

In the senior womens race, Donna Mahon (Rathfarnham) had another fine run in 4th, Aoife Joyce (Crusaders) ran a very good race to finish 18th, and Emer Geraghty (Sli Cualann) was 31st. In the senior men, John Brooks (Rathfarnham) was 16th, Keith Daly (Donore) 30th, a welcome return to racing by Kevin Keane (Rathfarnham) in 33rd, and Fechin Heery (St. Brigids) 55th.

In Dungarvan in the Munster championships, Elma Nugent (West Waterford) was 4th in the junior womens race.
