Results from the World long-distance mountain championships in England today show Moire O?Sullivan finishing well up the field as around 40th woman. Approaching half-way (at Ribblehead) Moire was 526th but she made significant progress from there on to the finish to end in 379th.

In the men?s David Naughton was top Irish finisher in 86th followed by Bernard Fortune (237th) and Kevin Grogan (264th). Bernard was 91st at the first time checkpoint (around 7 km) and 157th at Ribblehead but lost ground from there on. Kevin moved up from 371st at Ribblehead.

The great Dane, Rene, was 409th after being 303rd at Ribblehead with Mick Hanney close behind in 413th having been 280th at Ribblehead. Joe Lalor was 550th which put him well up in the M50 category. Joe moved up as the race progressed after being 630th at Ribblehead.
