138 runners and a few pirates ran the Earl?s Drive, the opening race of the Trail League - a 25% increase on last year! We got another tight finish at the end of the 8 kilometre race as Padraig MacCriostail beat Kevin English by a nipple with Vincent O?Sullivan third holding off Grisham O?Dwyer and Cormac Conroy. Course marker John Farrelly was first M40, 34 seconds off his ?05 time, but he had run the course beforehand carrying the flags. Thanks John!

In the women?s race, we saw a battle of the F40s. Laura Flynn held off Orla Brady by 17 seconds while youngster Aisling Coppinger took third. Tom Loftus was first M50, with Brendan Doherty and Caitlin Bent the fastest sexagenarians on the night. Thanks to all the helpers, and to the flies and midges who decided that battling with the light breeze was just too much for them on the night.

Small points:

Parking was supposed to mean that everybody left a gap every five cars. Please do it in future as watching elderly motorists trying to reverse for a few hundred metres to find a space to pull in is not what we want to be known for.

If you are late, Presidential dictat declares you won?t be included in the results. So if you do decide to join in, please don?t race across the finish line as it distracts the finish officials. Walk the last ten metres to the finish line and don't go in the chute.

Finally, take a look at your race number in the results and remember it for next time. Barry Minnock has enough to be doing at the entry desk than hammering through the data base to try to find you.

Thanks
Douglas
