Spooky...

3 for 3!
Yet another fine clear night, third time and still lucky and yet another first timer race director knocking it out of the park, ably assisted by first aid and race marking perfection. The buzz and the atmosphere walking up to a race registration table in the dark is class.
The "funnier" goings on seemed to be confined to the Masseys Woods side of the road. We'd parked at the graveyard up from The Merry Poughboy and jogged up through Masseys. Definitely something snooky going on in there. I was pretty sure someone would take a wrong turn, join a poker table in the Hellfire House, look under a table and NOT find a pair of Hokas....BOO!
RD Alan Kennedy was kept busy presenting T-shirts and then we raced.
The race was cool, a convoluted series of sinuous loops within loops around the place which was perfectly marked and marshalled. I went with road shoes and only slipped the once so probably worth it for the fast out and back Fireroad.

This series of races is the way forward in terms of getting to play in busy places. The alternative is the 6am race start and buying a headtorch is preferable to an alarm clock. I had a great week thinking you needed 3 races to place in the league and imagining that might be me but alas I hadn't actually read part that said best 2 races to count and so well done to Aoife O'Brien and Kevin Byrne - Night Challenge Champions for 2024.

And may there be a 2025! Please :)
