RD Report

This year’s edition of the Glendalough Tucker Trail give the runners a little bit of everything, 50 miles of testing trails, four seasons, tortuous humidity, incessant rain, glorious sunshine.

The out & back nature of the course means most runner saw the entire field at least three times. The chaser and the chased counting the gap with each turn. The 48 starters thus feeling like a feel three times its size.

The day was dominated by our winners, both Enda Cloake and Sarah Clarke setting out their stall early and dominating their respective races throughout. The duel for second and third in the ladies continued throughout the day with local Catherine Devitt edging the rivalry by 3 minutes over Denise Barrett on the finish line. In the mens race Maciej Dzieledziak showed great temperament during the before making a clear break for second place on the final leg. Joint third place was awards to Sebastien Giraud and Niall Corless who ran side-by-side for the the entire day.

The long day finish with 40 finishers from the 48 starters, including a 100% completion rate for the ladies who started.

With the eventual arrival of the sunshine the runners and the winners could enjoy the finish line setting of the upper lake in Glendalough well into the evening. Cheering the ultra and relay runners as they arrived at the end of their journey.

Thanks to all the runners and volunteers who combined to leave so many smily faces on the finish line.
