On a beautiful evening in western Wicklow over 140 runner endured the long drive out of town for the a chance to enjoy the sunshine and long views from the rolling grassy tracks and the final pull to the summit of Sorrel Hill.

Paul Nolan (71) pulled away early and enhanced his chances for besting Eoin Keith for the league championship with a solid win. Though there is no such competition for the woman's league championship the competition on the night was stellar. Hazel Thompson pulled away from the suddenly on form Una May to lead over the summit only to be caught on the way down. The Mayo depleted Roisin McDonnell , showed she wasn't as tired as she claimed, when she took Hazel on the run-in for second.

Bob Lawlor ended Eugene Coppingers run in the M40 by taking honors in that category, and Joan Flanagan showed she is rounding back into form with victory in women's veteran category.
Ercus Stewart had his first solid run of the year, even running the final climb while those around him walked , but it wasn't enough to best Eddie Reid who took the honors in M50, while Ger Power got a win in the F50. Danny Toye continued to make it a habit by winning the M60 and Maura Higgins won the F60.

Retiring to one of the finest pubs on the league circuit, the well situated Zellers, a good time was had by all. The only complaint was the blinding sun on the way back, a small price to play for a wonderful sunset over one of the best landscapes in Wicklow.
