Glendalough Tucker Trail

3rd time on the Tucker Trail.

This race definitely warrants a report. What I love about this race is its simplicity. Don’t get me wrong, this is by no means a simple race. What I mean is you show up, get your gear checked, quick instructions from the RD, group photo, and off you go. Minutes later you’re on the Spink overlooking the upper lakes at Glendalough. If the field has spread out quickly you could even be alone with these views. This was my 3rd time completing the Tucker Trail and I enjoy it more every-time I run the course. As this is a 3 loop course, for me there is something very motivating when you get 1 loop done knowing you’ve only 2 left, then when you get the 2nd done knowing you’ve only 1 more to go. This is helped greatly by the amazing volunteers and supplies at each aid station. The encouragement shown by other runners coming in opposite directions and the general atmosphere and camaraderie that this long running event attracts. The event remains a great testament to Adrian and a massive thanks to Greg and all his team for keep this race going year on year. See you again soon. Phil
