2001 Races
Aughavannah - Preliminary report by Douglas Barry
Simon Fairmaner won the 4th race of the Irish Championship on the tough Aughavannah course which takes in Leinster's highest mountain Lugnaquilla and some of its outliers. In the absence of the already crowned 2001 champion John Lenihan, the DSD runner had a good margin of 14 minutes over newcomer William Garrett who in turn held off Paul Mahon by 2 minutes. Joan Flanagan had an easy win in the women's race well ahead of Caitlin Bent.
A full report will follow from someone who was actually there!!
