Mullaghacleevaun race - Preliminary report by Douglas Barry
Glorious weather! What a change, a miserable summer of wind rain and mist seemed to dissipate at the onset of September. Early days yet, but perhaps we have the pleasure of an Indian summer awaiting us. Perhaps? I'm not holding my breath!
I couldn't go to this race of marvellous views over the limpid waters of the Blessington lakes, but I could ring someone who did. Joe Lalor picked up the phone and told me that former Irish international Bob Lawlor had continued his good form from the Galtees to win just outside Simon Fairmainer's record and that newly selected Irish international Nicky Cinnamond had won the women's race.
