Lindie Naughton | Dec 19 2011, 4:41pm | The revived Djouce H'cap (organised by 3ROC and friends) will take place on the usual 8km Earls' Drive trail around Djouce woods on Tue Dec 27. Starting 11am (or slighty earlier if you think you'll take longer than an hour). Format is countdown handicap; we start the countdown clock with the slowest starter. You start when you want, ie, if you think you'll run it in 40 mins 12 secs, then you set off when the count-down reaches that time. The person to cross the line when the time runs out (or immediately after) is the winner. If we have enough helpers, we'll record finish times. There is also be a 5km fun run for children (11am). Sign on that morning; non-IMRA members won't have to pay the annual reg fee. No entry fee required, but Wicklow Hospice (via Bill Porter) may come along and make a collection. Plus you are welcome to bring a prize. Prizegiving in the car park, with the winner getting first choice; Glencormac Inn after (tbc). About 8 officials needed (multi-tasking expected!): 1 - course marker (Paul Mahon has offered his gear) 3 - stewards on course 1 - registration 1 - collect and sort prizes 4 - finish (2xtimes, 2xplaces) Contact me directly at my gmail or mob number. Lindie Naughton | Dec 21 2011, 11:00am | Come on folks - would sleep better with a few more names on the volunteeers list! Or just mail me privately. |
Lindie Naughton | Dec 23 2011, 4:52pm | Thanks to our increasing pool of volunteers - we'll be all right! Just been taking to Tom from the Glencormac Inn and they'll be happy to welcome us after the race, so that's where we'll head (although may still do some of the prizegiving in the car park). |
Lindie Naughton | Dec 24 2011, 2:39pm | Anyone fancy car pooling from Belfield? Meet 9.30am. |
Ruaraidh Stenson | Dec 25 2011, 9:51pm | I'm back in Dublin over Christmas, no car. Any chance of a lift from Dundrum for the Djouce run? Need to get back for 2:30, that can be separate lift of course. Thanks very much! Ruaraidh 012956747 |
Gerard Cunningham | Dec 26 2011, 2:50pm | Ruaraidh I'm going early tomorrow leaving Dundrum at 09.15. If you or anyone else wants a lift from Balally Luas (between Dundrum & Kilmacud)or somewhere nearby just text me on o87-636-9461 |
Lindie Naughton | Dec 27 2011, 4:11pm | A perfect day for running in Djouce Woods with 82 turning out. Provisional results below; winner was either Paul Mahon or Larry Stapleton or someone else (a crowd of about 10 correctly guessed their likely finishing time and just about made the buzzer; a bit confusing. All corrections very welcome!). First woman was Anna Heffernan very closely followed by Maura Matthews and Tressan McCambridge. We had two exceptional runs from juniors - step forward Katie Flynn, out on her own in the junior 5km, and talented newcomer Alex Price who finished in around 42 minutes on the full course. Our nominated charity was Wicklow Hospice, with Brendan collecting over €600. Big thanks to helpers Vivian, Gavan, Caroline, Enda, Brendan, Martin F, Tom at the Glencormac Inn, and especially course marker/dismantler Gerry C. Thanks to everyone who donated prizes and to all of you who turned out and made it such a fun day. Here's to next year! PS: Pics at www.lindie.zenfolio.com. Santina Doherty early start; 52 mins? Brendan Lawlor | Dec 28 2011, 6:08pm | Lindie Thank you for reviving the Djouce Handicap and keeping the tradition of a hillrun on 27th December alive. We collected over €600 which I have passed on to Bill Porter of the Wicklow Hospice and he was most appreciative. Thank you to all h'elf'ers also and happy new year to all! |
