Brian Field | Feb 26 2025, 1:21pm | Hi there, For the relay event is it a four person team, running 10.5 km each And presume the change over is back at the Hotel, or does the relay team Meet each other out on the course? Regards Brian |
Joe Lalor | Feb 26 2025, 1:31pm | Hi Brian, Relay teams can have any number from one to four. A two man team is a common combo, either alternating or first two legs and last two. Course is a loop starting and finishing at hotel CP 1 is Wicklow Gap, CP2 youth hostel Glenmalure, CP3 Drumgoff. This means legs are of various lengths 20 to 14km. |
Joe Lalor | Feb 26 2025, 1:33pm | Last post should read 10 to 14km. Much further info on event page |
Brian Field | Feb 26 2025, 2:32pm | Thanks Joe |
Eoin Syron | Apr 16 2025, 4:22pm | HI All, Just a reminder that entries close for the WGL on (Good) Friday 18th @ 18:00. Also can relay teams please let me know which runners are running which legs by this time. esyron at gmail dot com thanks Eoin. |
Peter O'Farrell | Apr 16 2025, 9:00pm | Hello Brian, Running as a team of 2 with first runner doing legs 1+2, meeting the second runner in at the start of leg 3 and second runner running legs 3+4 works very well logistically. It can be a one car outing if the first runner can take a lift to Glendo. If you are theat second runner it's very very good....sitting at home....sipping coffee.....watching dots....sipping more coffee and then finally spinning down to Glenmalure in time to give the car to your partner. They then meet you at the start of leg 4 with water and encouragement so you don't even have to carry much water. |

Eoin Syron | Apr 22 2025, 5:47pm | Any other helpers available for WGL on Saturday? If you are supporting a runner or team and can spare an hour or two it would be much appreciated. |
Richard Leahy | Apr 26 2025, 4:47pm | Big thanks to Eoin and team for a marvelous day in the hills, one of the best races on the calendar. Leg 2 was one for the swamp donkeys, but the warm sun distracted from the slog. |
Stuart Scott | Apr 26 2025, 5:46pm | Thanks Eoin and all the volunteers for a great day out today. It was my first time doing the new leg 3 and it didn't disappoint! Fortunately I eschewed any chances to recce, and the advice of those who had, and found a lovely interesting route down along the stream through the trees to rival Alan's Abyss. It had a similar gradient but was much mossier underfoot, with the odd crag to liven things up. 4 out of 5 trees were so rotten they'd snap the second you'd touch them so you never knew if you'd fall backwards or somersault forwards. And topped off with a lovely vertical waterslide into a waist deep pool to finish. You'd be hard pressed to get a similar experience in the aquatic centre and all for just e7...as always IMRA is hard to beat! Thanks again to everyone, it was a long shift to put in but was very much appreciated! |
James H Cahill | Apr 26 2025, 6:45pm | Thanks Eoin and all the volunteers for giving up your Saturday so that we could enjoy a day in the hills participating in one of the best races on the IMRA calendar. For sure the tracker routes will reveal some interesting route shoices and stories. Thanks again |
David Masterson | Apr 26 2025, 7:19pm | Thanks to all the volunteers for their contribution today, thanks to my wife for running leg 3 and letting me run leg 4, and thanks to everyone for making it a great day in the hills. |
Connie Dottino | Apr 26 2025, 7:51pm | Thank you Eoin and all the volunteers for organising such a great day and for hanging around all day waiting for us. It was well worth the penance of having to drag my feet back to the lower lake! |
Andrew Hanney | Apr 27 2025, 2:42pm | Thanks to Eoin, Daniella and all the volunteers for giving up your time for this classic IMRA event. Weather was great, the hills were tough and the craic was brilliant. Huge respect to those doing the full, it is such a tough event. |
