Andrew Hanney | Feb 4 2025, 9:42am | Hi all, great to see keen interest in volunteering for this event. We already have enough volunteers (18!) so please look to other events. If some of the current list want to switch to running volunteers, that’s fine. Thank you! |
Miriam Maher | Mar 31 2025, 8:15am | Good morning all As the Killiney Hill relay race is the first of our charity races for 2025, we'd like to invite members, as in previous years, to put forward a charity which they would like to see benefit from this event. The committee with look at all charities proposed and decide on one. If you would like to put a charity forward please check on the Charities Regulator website to ensure that it is a registered charity. If your charity is selected we would ask that you help out at one of the other upcoming race events by adding your name to the volunteer list as Andy has a full complement of volunteers already! Nominations can be sent to me at president@imra.ie by April 4th 2025. Many thanks Miriam |
Kieran Brennan | Apr 3 2025, 9:05am | Hi See for the relay race. Do you need to have a team to enter or can you turn up and be put in a team on the evening? Many thanks Kieran |
Andrew Hanney | Apr 3 2025, 9:19am | Hi Kieran, relay teams will be made on the night once people arrive. Meaning the teams are selected at random in keeping with the charity and social spirit of the event. Once picked on a team of three, you then must select the order of who will run the 2.5km loop. |
Andrew Hanney | Apr 3 2025, 9:26am | Volunteer update #2. We have too many volunteers for this event, if you've been accepted and want to switch to running volunteer, that's fine. If not on the accepted list, please look to other events coming up. Looking forward to the start of Wednesday night races for 2025! |
Miriam Maher | Apr 4 2025, 10:48am | Good morning Thank you very much to those that sent in nominations for the charity to be the recipient of the donations from this race. We received five nominations and the committee considered them and then voted. This year we will be supporting the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association in their great work and support for the people and their families affected. 'Until there is a cure, there is care' https://www.imnda.ie/ Even if you're not able to make the race, you can always buy an entry to support the charity. All proceeds from the entries for the race will be donated to IMNDA. Thanks Miriam |
Phil behan | Apr 6 2025, 6:37pm | Hi all, I’ve a gang load of juniors interested in doing this. For the juniors will the teams be mixed with others or can they run together in teams of 3 ? Thanks all. |
Andrew Hanney | Apr 7 2025, 1:27am | Hi Phil, that is brilliant. All teams are going to be picked on the evening from the hat. |
Niall McGuinness | Apr 8 2025, 5:52pm | Hi folks, looking forward to getting out on Wed eves again. Just wondering if the shorter kid's race will feature on Killiney hill again this year? |
Andrew Hanney | Apr 8 2025, 6:24pm | We are looking forward to kicking off the IMRA Wednesday trail season with the usual Killiney charity race. This year all money raised with go to Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association. The format of the event is simple. You turn up, are placed on a team or 3 at random and between yourselves you decide who takes which leg. All runners do the same figure of 8 loop around Killiney which is around 2.5km. There are lots of people doing IMRA races for the first time this year. This type of race is a brilliant way to get to know what IMRA is all about. We will have some refreshments at the race finish. We will also have prizes for the winning team and lots of spot prizes also. Please sign up and see you Wednesday 16th. For any questions just post here.. Niall, we will have the shorter kids race also. |
Niall McGuinness | Apr 8 2025, 11:01pm | Thanks a million Andy. See you next week! |
Stéphane Claude | Apr 10 2025, 3:53pm | Hi Andrew, sorry for the short notice, I'll have to leave race HQ at 7.30pm. Let me know if you have a job for me that allows me to leave at 7.30pm. Thank you. Stéphane |
Andrew Hanney | Apr 10 2025, 10:13pm | Hi Stéphane, I have enough volunteers for this event. Please look to another event. Thanks, Andy. |
Stéphane Claude | Apr 11 2025, 3:19pm | Will do. Thank you |
Miriam Maher | Apr 13 2025, 8:00pm | Just a reminder that as this is a charity fundraising event, please feel free to enter even if you can’t make it on the evening. Entries will remain open until 8pm on the evening of the race to facilitate entries as donations. Thanks in advance for your support. Miriam |
Niamh O'Ceallaigh | Apr 14 2025, 10:29am | Hi Folks, The kids run, walk, toddle is back this year. Kids can choose to do 1 lap or 2 laps of the course. It will start at 7:20, just before the adults race to allow all the adults cheer them on. If anyone is bringing kids with impaired mobility, please let me know in advance and we would be delighted to ensure that the course is accessible for all. My number is 0 ate 5 won double four 5 too 0 nine. Thanks, Niamh |
Keelin Holmes | Apr 14 2025, 11:15am | Hi! Are kids welcome to take part with parents in this race ? Thanks Keelin |
Andrew Hanney | Apr 14 2025, 9:57pm | Hi Keelin, the emphasis is on fun so if a parent wants to do the event accompanied by a child that's fine. It will count as one leg of the relay for the team. I add details on kids categories just as an FYI https://imra.ie/forum/topic/id/6302. |
Andrew Hanney | Apr 14 2025, 11:44pm | We have 54 entered so far which is great, another 6 entries would mean we have 20 teams. The more the merrier. That would raise 600 Euro for the charity. Just reminder I have switched the extra volunteers to running volunteer. An email will go out tomorrow for the volunteer roles. Lets hope for good weather for this event at last! . |
Andrew Hanney | Apr 14 2025, 11:48pm | By the way, we will try to collect event times for each runner so this race can be added to your race history. After your leg, give your time to the marshal in charge of that. |
Andrew Hanney | Apr 15 2025, 3:57pm | Email gone out to volunteers.... let me know if anyone did not get it. Wow, we have over 20 teams running tomorrow. Should be great craic. Don't forget to carpool, the park can be busy in the evening. The Dart in Dalkey leaves you about 15 mins walk away. Race entries will remain open until tomorrow evening. If it’s your first IMRA event this is a best way to meet up and get to know the IMRA folks. It would really help us out if runners can be there by 7pm. You won’t need your IMRA number, just sign in at the registration desk and at 7:15 you will be allocated a team. At 7:20 please support the kids race organised by Niamh and make a fuss of them. If you cant make the race and want to buy an entry to contribute to the charity please go ahead. |
Kate O'Mahony | Apr 16 2025, 10:57am | Hey Andrew, I didn't get the email about volunteering this evening but I do need to un-volunteer tonight, I have just got an invite for a late scheduled evening meeting tonight. Huge apologies for the short notice, Kate |
Andrew Hanney | Apr 16 2025, 11:47am | Hi Kate, there is no issue as you volunteered after I said we had enough, always check the status to see if volunteering is accepted or switched to run. Thank you!. Can somebody arrange the weather to change for later? :) |
Andrew Hanney | Apr 16 2025, 11:48pm | Thanks to all the volunteers who contributed so much tonight to a great event. With record numbers of kids and adults attending it all went smoothly. Once again the weather didn't help but it didn't deter us from having a great evening of running around Killiney head. Well done Niamh on the superb race for the juniors, it worked a treat. Events like this really underline the social and fun side of IMRA events. Now Wednesday night racing is open for another summer season. Enjoy every minute of it. |
Niall McGuinness | Yesterday, 10:13am | Thanks a million Andy and Niamh especially, and all the volunteers, for another stellar evening on Killiney Hill! |
Andrew Hanney | Yesterday, 12:14pm | We raised just over 1000 euro for IMNDA last night. That is really superb. Congrats to the winning team number 10 consisting of: Gareth Little 13:27 Imogen Boden 14:49 John McCauley 13:00 ...we are currently investigating how this team got put together randomly ;) Two items of clothing left behind and are in the IMRA kit. A Leinster jacket and a black hoody. |
Miriam Maher | Yesterday, 12:26pm | That's a fantastic amount raised! Thanks to everyone who entered, whether you raced or just donated. Looks like a super night was had. Thanks Andy and Niamh and all your volunteers for making it such a special and accessible event! Roll on the Wednesday nights now, with Alice's 'welcome to IMRA' themed event next week for the first of the Leinster League races. |
