Martin BagnallJul 24 2025, 10:36amSuddenly we're already at the penultimate Leinster League race, next week is Seahan!

Thanks to those who have volunteered already, could do with 3 or 4 more Helpers and a Laptop Operator please.

Prizegiving and post race refreshments will be at Ahernes pub in Oldbawn. It's also a great place to car pool from.

Car parking will be in the same field as last year - link on Details page. It's a nice 1.8K warm-up from there to the start line so please allow plenty of time. Please do not park at the race start or finish as there's very limited space.

This year, race registration/sign-in will be at the start line.

Please note that there will be a 220 runner limit on this race.

The details page has more information on location, race routes etc.., if there's any questions, please ask!
Henny BrandsmaJul 26 2025, 12:22pmHi Martin I just entered my name as running helper, you can put me down either for parking or registration duties. Henny.
Martin BagnallJul 28 2025, 11:27amThank you to those who have volunteered, there's enough now. Please take a look at other races for volunteering, there's always plenty of opportunities.
Karl BourneJul 28 2025, 3:52pmHi Martin - just wondering whether the full and short courses are both the same as last year? Cheers, Karl
Martin BagnallJul 28 2025, 4:16pmHi Karl, yes, both are the same routes as last year.
Keelin HolmesJul 29 2025, 8:12amHi, ive just tried to enter one of my children into the race and see its sold out, if someone cant make it on the day is it possible to buy their ticket ? not sure as I havent had to do before, thanks Keelin
Turlough ConwayJul 29 2025, 10:11amHi Martin.
Would you be able to stick a pin or coordinates onto the 'Getting there' description for race start? There is a map but very localized etc.
Thanks a million

Carlos JustoJul 29 2025, 2:41pmHi Martin, What time should I arrive tomorrow as I am volunteering as a helper?
Thanks,
Carlos
Martin BagnallJul 29 2025, 4:44pmHi Keelin,

Certain races on the calendar, such as this one, have limited numbers due to permit rules.

The system isn't able to handle transfer of entries so once the race is sold out, unfortunately, that's it.

Martin
Martin BagnallJul 29 2025, 4:46pmHi Turlough,

Here's a pin for the start location:

Martin BagnallJul 29 2025, 4:48pmHi Carlos,

I sent an email to all volunteers - perhaps it inadvertently ended up in your Junk/Span folder?

In any case, I have you down for a Marshall role - could you be at the start line for 6:30pm, please?

Cheers,
Martin
Kate McDonaldJul 29 2025, 5:22pmHi Martin,

I had signed up to volunteer for this event. I have not received an email yet. Can you let me know my volunteer role and what time you'd like me to arrive?

Many thanks,
Kate
Martin BagnallJul 29 2025, 7:20pmHi Kate,

You are down for runner sign in at the race start. Could you be there for 6pm please - sign-in will open at 6:15pm.

If anyone else who's signed up as a volunteer hasn't yet received an email from me, please post a message here.

Thanks,
Martin
Martin BagnallJul 29 2025, 7:29pmThe weather for tomorrow is looking likely to be similar to this evening.

As a result, kit requirements will be the mandatory waterproof jacket.

The sum-up card payment system will be in operation at parking, Just a reminder to please allow plenty of time to get from the field to the start line since it's about 1.8K.

There will be an early start at 7pm for those who need it, i.e. for runners who regularly finish above 160% of the winner’s time.
Hannah CashJul 30 2025, 7:50amHi, I thought I could register on the day but is this not the case.
Thanks
Brian KitsonJul 30 2025, 8:00amEntries to some races, such as this one, need to be capped, Hannah and it sold out yesterday. There’s always Bray Head next week.
Brendan LawlorJul 31 2025, 9:18amDamp aul evening up on Seahan for some old school mountain running.. thank you to the unflappable Martin Bagnal and his super team of drowned rats volunteers for another memorable hill run.
Anne-Claire MondeJul 31 2025, 9:20amA massive thank you to all the helpers last night for all the smiles in the rain on the course and at the finish line.
Also could I ask you to correct my time: I left early - missed the early departure, but still 24min ahead of normal departure. So my time should be 1h40’53’’….and not 1h16’53’’ (I wish!) although the latter would look much better on records !
Thanks again x
Alan KennedyJul 31 2025, 9:27amThanks Martin , Mike and crew for another great run round Seahan. Yes the weather caught us all on the hop and for me anyway was the first wet LL race this year which is pretty remarkable. Hate standing around in the wet at the start but nice when we get going as the rain was nice and cool, cause you all know now that I don't like the heat!! But then I forgot how mucky this track was and it was lethal in places, especially the last downhill. How Kate stayed upright I will never know! Hope the fallers are all ok, Huw and Ger I know of but she looked ok before I left.

Onwards to the last one in Bray and certainly for my M55 category we are in for an amazing finish to see who wins. Congrats to Graham & Bernard for an amazing league so far and may the best man win next week.
Diane McConnellJul 31 2025, 10:07amWell done to ALL who ran, walked or slipped their way around the course. And thank you Martin and the rest of the volunteer crew, we picked a great night to stand around :) I took lots of pics and hope I got everyone. I only started IMRA for the epic photos! If anyone wants full quality copy of their photo, just email me dianedime9@gmail.com as downloading from the site seems to downgrade the quality. There are some gorgeous ones especially of the junior crew.
Huw ThomasJul 31 2025, 10:11amYou may have seen me hobbling down Seahan and unfortunately the mountain beat me - minor fracture in left ankle.

Huge thanks to everyone single one of you who asked if I was ok, including Jenny who gave me her hat to keep me warm. Send me a text Jenny and I'll get it back to you (0858413341).

Carlos you're a legend for finding me and getting me safely down the mountain. Niamh, thanks for the lift and the mint tea, both thing exactly what I needed. And Alice, thanks for patching me up.

Unfortunately I'll be out of running for a while but look forward to the next.
Andrew HanneyJul 31 2025, 10:29amWhen I was signing up for this race, I was thinking I'd never ran there and the views would be lovely.

Well done to all the volunteers out there. One of those nights when its definitely better to be running than standing out there in those messy conditions, so fair play to all of you and thanks for your encouragement around the course. Its a great route, though that second climb up the mountain was endless!
Rob TobinJul 31 2025, 10:33amThanks Martin, Mike and team for last night's muckfest. I left home on a dry clear day and passing the Stone Cross was transported to a scene worthy of the wesht. Visibility was absent, surface water omnipresent. There was a fleeting glimpse down into Glenasmole on the far side but I was too busy skidding on cow pats to enjoy it. Back home via Stone Cross with clear views to Howth and Ireland's Eye. I'm glad there are photos because people wouldn't believe us otherwise!
Turlough ConwayJul 31 2025, 10:50amWell done to Martin and volunteers for an excellent operation on a soaking evening!
There is a work in Irish called 'Litir' meaning a wet field on the side of a hill (usually west side). You see it in place names: Letterfrack, Lettermore, Letterkenny etc.
I think Seahan and it's evil twin Corrig are the 'Wet mountains' on the west side of the Dublin Mountains. The weather seemed to be pretty localized there. The old Corrig summer race (mainly a climb up and down Seahan) was notoriously wet. A joke was to have Corrig in the summer but it should count as winter league! Very enjoyable evening, thanks again!
Jeff SwordsJul 31 2025, 11:45amAnne-Claire, we don't do individual start times, you didn't leave at either of the official start times so your time will be adjusted to the early start time.
Anne-Claire MondeJul 31 2025, 12:11pmNo worries at all ! Not fighting for podium anyway - Just happy to have done it.. Thanks again
James FitzgeraldJul 31 2025, 12:56pmHi, great run if a bit wet haha. Thanks to the volunteers. My time has been noted as DNF, could this be checked please as I registered and finished I think around the 1:20 or so mark. Race number is 1774. Thanks in advance.
Brian KitsonJul 31 2025, 3:53pmThat was some night. Thanks to Martin and all the hardy volunteers who braved the conditions.

I put up a report.
Jeff SwordsJul 31 2025, 4:02pmQueries etc on results can be sent to IMRAResults at Gmail dot com and they'll looked into.
Anna MichaelJul 31 2025, 6:08pmThank you so much Martin and all the volunteers who braved the rain so that we could get out on the hills and enjoy a great race.
Ger PowerJul 31 2025, 9:17pmThanks to Alice who insisted on patching me up, Kate and crew who walked back to the car and Alan for lending me his brand new Wicklow Way top.
Martin BagnallJul 31 2025, 9:46pmI wasn't expecting a winter race in the summer but so it panned out. Safe to say, nobody in Met Eireann will be worried for their job with my weather prediction success rate!

Fair play and well done to those who took on and braved a tough route in really tough conditions. Congratulations to the winners, some fantastic times posted in the circumstances. To those who picked up injuries, I hope you recover quickly and are back on the hills soon.

Huge thanks to the volunteering team for stepping up and taking to their roles with enthusiasm. Quite a few of you were new or relatively new to the jobs but you performed as seasoned pros and worked together seamlessly. Thank you Carlos and Niamh for getting Huw back safely and a special thanks to Alice who shrugged off the tiredness of running a race to step into an unexpected first aid role.

Roll on Bray Head - Mikey, I'm sure the weather will be lovely!
Francis ConroyAug 1 2025, 10:33amJust a quick thanks to all the Volunteers and particularly those on the mountain and who withstood the weather conditions for ages dealth with sprained ankles etc - thanks again
