John FitzgeraldJun 17 2025, 10:34pmHi all, our race is only two weeks away now
on July 2nd. I still need many more both
non-running and running volunteers.
Also a second First Aider would be
very much appreciated
Many thanks.
Rachel ClarkeJun 18 2025, 10:39pmCan I volunteer at this race please ? I’ve never done it before so just to let you know
Rachel ClarkeJun 18 2025, 10:40pmIdeally running please ?
Conor NolanJun 19 2025, 12:30pmJohn, Peter, is this year's course the usual as per published map or last year's variation out on the boardwalk/WW? I have strayed in the past, so would like to recce.
Peter O'FarrellJun 19 2025, 12:54pmHello Conor,

This course will unfortunately have to be different to the previous version as there have been both works and storms in the area since last year.
I will get out to recce the area in the next week and will plan to have a new route and a map in place in time for your recce.

however..............and without jinxing myself.......follow. the. tape. Should work....... The route will be marked as per the current guidelines and there should be no requirement to recce.
Jeff SwordsJun 19 2025, 1:36pmAnd I believe this could be a document you had involvement in Peter as a guide to marking and following those markings some time back.

Peter O'FarrellJun 23 2025, 4:30pmHello,

I'm going out to look at route options on Wednesday morning, starting from Ballinastoe carpark at 10am.
All welcome to come along, especially those with loppers and pruners :)
Peter O'FarrellJun 26 2025, 10:54amThanks to Alan Kennedy and Paul Mahon for company, chats and much lopping of branches yesterday.

The long course for Ballinastoe is about 11km with 500m of climb and is very similar to the course from a few years ago.

There is a plotaroute image on the photo section and
https://www.plotaroute.com/route/3023373 should work also.
Keep your eyes peeled and.....Follow. The. Tape. :)
Warren SwordsJun 26 2025, 11:31amIs the bridge of death still in?

Looks great. One of the best courses in the League.
Alan KennedyJun 26 2025, 11:57amYes Warren it is still there, as per photo, but I can personally confirm that it should no longer be used ;-)

It's nothing fancy, just a big lithium battery and invertor. Let me know if it's a good idea.

Alan KennedyYesterday, 11:22amThanks John and crew, great buzz last night and the was as fun as expected. Love the starting horn!! Lots of chats after about the river crossings and especially Gordon's "music" up on the WW. Great raffle after with loads of prizes.
Brian KitsonYesterday, 10:34pm“My lack of enthusiasm for the race was reflected by resorting to warming up in my jeans.”

I’ve been that soldier…loved the report Warren.
Anne HodgeToday, 8:12amThank you John and all your volunteers for organizing a brilliant race on Wednesday. It had everything - a magical mystery tour through the forest, not one but 2 water jumps and even a rainbow!!
Jeff SwordsToday, 8:37amJust to clarify Anne, when you say water jumps, jumps imply jumping into rather than over the deep water when you misjudged the depth and you saw rainbows as a result of the shock of hitting and slipping waist deep into the freezing water?

That was my experience anyway (apart from the rainbows).
