Alice ClancyMay 26 2025, 8:54amHi all, looking for some volunteers for this race….especially Marshalls….who may or may not have a penchant for playing some class of an instrument amongst the midgies and bog…
Rachel CinnsealachMay 26 2025, 9:47amAlice and myself will be doing a recce of Trooperstown route of Sunday 1st June. We will meet at Trooperstown car park at 10.00 am. The pace will be 'very slow'. Possibly walking at times. I haven't 'run' 12 km in years. I will also be stopping to take note of marshal spots and what needs to be cleared. All are welcome to join in. The would suit newcomers if they wanted to see the route before they raced it.
Rachel CinnsealachMay 31 2025, 4:32pmJust a reminder A small group of us are doing a very slow recce of the Trooperstown LL race tomorrow (12 km). We are meeting at Trooperstown car park at 10.00 am
All welcome
Kara FleischmannJun 1 2025, 2:48pmWas a great day out with ye for the recce! Should be a smashing run!
Rachel CinnsealachJun 10 2025, 11:34amFolks,
We are very short on volunteers for this race. We need marshals and we need people to help with registration.
Kara FleischmannJun 11 2025, 8:16amHey Rachel,
I may have two volunteers from my family as we’re local, but they’re not registered with IMRA. Alice has my number. Can you send me a What’s App message please about details? Xx
Vivian O'GormanJun 12 2025, 8:39amHi All,

Volunteers badly needed for Trooperstown...
Please add your name to the list...
Hazel ThompsonJun 15 2025, 11:52amHi. Can you confirm that registration is not needed for the Beginners’ Forest Loop (2.2km)?
Thanks
Hazel
Rachel CinnsealachJun 15 2025, 2:43pmThis is correct Hazel
Rachel CinnsealachJun 15 2025, 2:51pmHi Folks,

The Trooperstown race opens tomorrow at 9.00 am. There is no cap on numbers, and there are only 80 car parking spaces, so we REALLY need people to carpool.

We are including a fun run
Trooperstown 2.2 km Challenge: Start @ 7.40pm
This is a fun run for anyone who would like to walk or race around the forest (all the fun of the forest and none of the pain of the hill!) All are welcome and entry is free. You do not need to register online ! There will be spot prizes for participants. Results will be listed in a forum post in the days after the race, not in the results section of the race page.

*Note that as membership and race entry are not required, participation is therefore not covered by IMRA insurance, and participants are responsible for their own safety. Children must be supervised by their parent or guardian at all times.

Alice and Andy will be collecting running kit at registration for donation to new trail runners who need help getting the gear they need to get out in the hills.

We could still do with one or two more non running volunteers.
Dermot O'EidhneainJun 16 2025, 6:50pmHi,, will the MR base be open post the race ( possibly looking to lock a bike there and collect after race ). Thanks
Rachel CinnsealachJun 16 2025, 7:25pmHi Dermot, MR base will be closed and locked after registration. While I am not going to take responsibility for your bike, I will be at the start/finish for the duration of the race as will a number of other volunteers. so if you locked it, to a secure object, it should be ok.
Dermot O'EidhneainJun 16 2025, 8:27pmThanks Rachel , good to know.
Rachel CinnsealachJun 17 2025, 4:41pmFolks, It is essential that people car pool tomorrow. You can carpool from

Laragh free carpark:

https://maps.app.goo.gl/9FfmugRs4DPb5kDdA

this has the added bonus of being close to Lynhams, The owners are aware IMRA runners will be parking there, we have been granted permission. Hopefully this will encourage more people to come back to the pub after for prize giving and raffle. There are only 80 car parking spaces in Trooperstown, single occupancy cars will be asked to park in this car park.

There is a barrier in the car park, with a height limit of 2 meters so large vans will not be able to park there.
Jean O'NeillJun 17 2025, 8:30pmGood luck to all tomorrow night! May the hills resonate with music!
Angus TynerJun 18 2025, 6:07pmAny word on this evenings kit requirement?
Brendan LawlorJun 18 2025, 6:24pmJacket only for tonight
Alan KennedyJun 18 2025, 11:28pmThanks Rachel, Alice and crew tonight for a great race. Lots of Marshalls out on the route and as encouraging as always. Great course and well done to Sean for marking. Always a fun downhill and so many sprint finishes! Was damn hot tonight and don’t think I’ve seen so many in the river post race before!!
Sorcha LoughnaneJun 19 2025, 12:13amHi all, big thanks to RD and all the volunteers for a very fun race tonight! Great route and marking and the usual feed of flies. Just to note my time is wrong - not sure what the timing recorded was but my watch tells me 57.33. Thanks!
Peter FordeJun 19 2025, 8:05amSorcha beat me by 2 seconds & should be #5 overall.

I hit the fire road and tried to catch you before the finish but you ended up in another sprint race with an early starter first!
Jeff SwordsJun 19 2025, 8:48amI'll take a look at Sorcha's.
Any more queries email IMRAResults at Gmail dot com

Thanks to the RD and all the volunteers who helped last night. They're all out early on the day to help these races happen and keep local businesses, residents and those who award permits on side.

The vast majority of runners cooperated, particularly on the carpooling side. However there were few who came along without reading the race details or forum in the days leading to the race, or chose to ignore them, and became irate with one of the volunteers when asked to follow the RD instructions regarding parking.

And if you turned up late for whatever reason and tried put up an argument about it, that's on you, not our volunteers.

Anyway, hopefully won't see this type of thing anymore, otherwise we'll just have people not wanting to volunteer if they're going to get hassle from a small minority runners for it.
Alan KennedyJun 19 2025, 10:10amAgree with Jeff on the parking. Even with all the car pooling it was still very tight and we have move a few cars to let some walkers get their van out. John, Philip, Gordon and Viv did a great job getting us all squeezed in and then had to rush off for the early start, Legends!
Karl BourneJun 19 2025, 10:31amHello there. Just realised my name has appeared in the results for last night, but I didn't sign up and wasn't registered. (Although I was around the finish line area with a bag containing my race number - albeit, unscanned, and without race entry for the night. So it might have been picked up by the system in error).

As much as I'd like to keep my personal best 118% of winner's time - please can this be removed from the results?
Richard KieranJun 19 2025, 2:05pmHi,
I took lots of photos last night but have discovered that iPhone no longer uses JPEG format so I cannot upload them to the IMRA site - any techies out there know how to do this?
Thanks,
Richard
Alan KennedyJun 19 2025, 2:22pmAlso the techies might advise how to upload photos in bulk instead of individual?
Eoin KeithJun 19 2025, 2:37pmFor photo uploads:

a few seconds of googling got me this for converting Apple's HEIC format to JPEG https://www.wikihow.com/Convert-iPhone-Photos-to-JPG

(HEIC is typically apple, a lovely piece of technology that is incompatible with the rest of the universe)

For bulk uploads, it's all written on the photo upload screen. Drag and drop multiple files onto the grey box.
Gareth NevilleJun 19 2025, 3:52pmEasiest way to bulk upload from photos taken on iPhone is to log in to your iCloud from a laptop/PC, select the photos you want and drag & drop them into a folder on your computer. You can then bulk upload the contents of the folder to the event. I haven't had an issue with file format doing it this way (and I uploaded a ton of photos from Brockagh this way a couple of weeks ago).
Rachel CinnsealachJun 19 2025, 9:10pmA big thankyou to my team of volunteers last night. Without volunteers these races cannot go ahead. Firstly, to my deputy race director Alice, who went above and beyond… from doing the route with me, to organising the car parking in Laragh, helping with marshal briefing, marshalling on the course, sweeping the course and demarking!!! Alice you are a legend! To the race marker Sean who went out over two days to mark the course. Awesome job done. Thanks to Olwyn for being the first aider and treating the casualties, and also for helping at registration. A big shout out to both Kevn and Jason you took on the roles of laptop operators, this involves training and it can get super busy. Stephen kindly took on the role of managing the forest loop and this was very much appreciated. I had a wonderful team at registration, Louisa, Richard, Anne, Vivian, Brendan and Ger and the process was flawless. It was great to have our marshals on the route, directing and supporting runners and demarking the course, a shout out to Henny, Niamh, Fiona, Neil (on the drums) Kara, Robin Rory and Derek. Kara also assisted with the recce of the route and showing marshals where to go. Big kudos to all my parking marshals, to Lillian, Gordon, John and Philip. We had limited car parking space and the team managed amazingly. It was particularly important to get the parking right for this race, cars blocking the road up cause locals to get annoyed and this would lead to IMRA not being able to use this location. I would like to thank all of you runners who made the effort to carpool. It is very unfortunate that one or two of my team were verbally abused by runners. IMRA relies on it’s volunteers, and many runners do not volunteer and they have no idea the about of work that goes on behind the scenes. Runners then come along and are upset about a situation, and they take it out on the volunteers, this is not acceptable. As a community we appreciate the volunteers who are giving up their time so others can race.
