Alan KennedyMar 23 2025, 6:56pmNext up for the Trail League will be Carrickgollogan at the end of April, which reverts to a Wednesday night after the start of the Leinster League in Belmont and first the Charity race in Killiney. Both those events look to have plenty of volunteers so I’m putting a shout out for a Laptop operator and some general helpers too.
Alan KennedyApr 17 2025, 8:49amThis event still needs a Laptop operator to go ahead and a few more volunteers please.
Gareth NevilleApr 17 2025, 6:53pmI have put myself down for Shadow Laptop Operator. Haven't done it before but happy to learn!
Alan KennedyApr 17 2025, 11:19pmThanks Gareth and David for doing the Laptop.
Alan KennedyApr 24 2025, 11:25amNext up on Wednesday 30th is the Trail League race around Carrickgollogan. I am good for volunteers now so please look at the next races on the calendar and get your name in early to help the RD's.

We will have an early start and a junior / short course for this one.

Parking is always a big issue with this race so please start to plan your car pooling now. Best places to meet are the De La Salle rugby club (where the prize giving will be) or the Bog Meadow car park in Enniskerry.
Alan KennedyApr 27 2025, 8:06pmSo the word is out and unfortunately we have had to put a cap on this race due to the limited car parking and would ask again to car pool in either DLD or Bog Meadow and to avoid using the only car park up at the race start to keep free for race organisers. Usual parking charges will apply and card payments only please.

The shop will open at 0900 tomorrow morning.
A.T. KellyApr 28 2025, 9:56pmIf anyone who is registered for this race on Wednesday can no longer do it, I'd happily take their spot.
Alan KennedyApr 29 2025, 7:18amSorry AT but transfers are not allowed.
Alan KennedyApr 29 2025, 5:02pmThis race is sold out now.

REGISTRATION:
To facilitate some additional car spaces in the field we have decided to do the registration up at the start line this year. So park your car and bring anything you need in a small bag and make your way up the 2km of Barnaslingan Lane. Will confirm the mandatory kit tomorrow before the race, minimum is always a jacket. And based on the good forecast recommend you also bring some water for before and after the race.

Only a few car pools listed so far so a reminder to make use of the two car parks locally and again, please do Not use the car park up beside the start line. There will be a marshal there to check if you are a volunteer / marshal.

A reminder of the car parking charges:
€4 for single occupancy
€3 for two
€2 for three
Free for a Full car

And finally for now please remember to bring your number, if you have been issued with one already. Cost for a replacement is €5 which you have to pay for at registration and priority will be given to those with numbers. So you will need a card or phone at reg. You can also buy one in advance thru the shop if you know it's lost. If this is your first IMRA race this year then no issue, we have your numbers ready to collect.

Parking only in field on Ballyman Rd, Eircode: A98AV24 (2km uphill from start/finish).

Then make your way up Barnaslingan Lane to the start line for Registration.

Start times:
Early start - 7:00

Anne-Claire MondeApr 30 2025, 10:58pmThanks for a great race tonight. Unfortunately I do not see myself in the results. #1011 - time on watch 59.37…so not great but it was hard enough so I’d rather have it on record Thanks guys.
And if there is a pb with my chip, let me know for next time. Thanks, Anne-Claire
Britta LuebbertApr 30 2025, 11:24pmIf anyone found what looks like an oversized Garmin watch on the Ballyman rd could you please let me know? It’s my gps unit for my motorbike and I think I didn’t put it into the mount properly and it flew off
Mary NolanApr 30 2025, 11:39pmHi guys I did the long course earlier start was out ages over 1 hour 20 but I'm in results as short course could this be checked many thanks Mary n hickey
Rob TobinYesterday, 6:28amThanks Alan (sans cowboy outfit) and volunteers. The course marking was A1. I particularly enjoyed meeting the horses on the course and playing a long game with the route to the summit. It was in view over our right shoulders at so many different stages of the race and fair play to you, you saved it for the final K. Thanks again.
Sorcha LoughnaneYesterday, 9:19amCarrickgollogan was a vibe - thanks to RD and all the volunteers!
Richard AllanYesterday, 9:44amThanks Alan and co for a super race last night. Tougher in practice than paper. Typical.
Mike LongYesterday, 11:41amThanks Alan and all for a super eveninig on the hills. Such a priviledge to be out on the hills on such a beautiful evening. Thanks to Derek, in particular, for "patching" me up afterwards.
Alan KennedyYesterday, 12:20pmThanks for all the feedback last night and glad everyone enjoyed the new route.

My thanks as always to Lillian for holding my hand thru my 2nd RD, definitely easier than the first one and lessons learned to improve for the next but recommended for anyone to give it a try as there is lots of help out there and you are not left on your own. Jeff is working thru the race queries and will update as soon as he can. The issue with the horses on the trail was unfortunate and totally unforeseen and we are looking at ways to avoid this happening again.

I had a great team of volunteers, most of whom I had never met before and who I chopped and changed roles last minute and moved people around and there was total support and flexibility from them all. My go-to crew of Gerry and Derek gave me a good base to start but Stefanie & Catherine did a superb job on registration and again on finisher spotting and were some of the last to leave to try and help the lads on the laptop sort of the runners who had not had their chips scanned. Gareth N had great laptop training on the night thanks to the ever-reliable Mr. Power.
Lots of compliments on the marking for a tricky course with lots of overlaps, so thanks to Gareth L & Richard for that and apologies for the excessive sun on the night which made it hard to see the flags on the summit. I will pray for rain and drizzle next time! And my sweeping / de-marking team of Martin, Alice & Patience where it is always a relief to see them arrive to know that all the runners are home.

Mr. Keith made an unannounced but most welcome appearance to enforce a kit check on All runners. I know it caught some people out but advanced noticed was given for this race and unfortunately standards around mandatory kit have slipped the last while so last night was a reminder to always check the minimum requirements for races going forward.

Finally, a special shoutout to Brian Kitson, who, as were trying to load up the van and get back to the clubhouse, noted the tents and rubbish that had been left up around the Smelter Tower and his suggestion that IMRA do what IMRA do best and to use the van to help clear up someone else’s mess was commendable and we left the trails in a better state than we found them.
Warren SwordsYesterday, 12:51pmThanks to Alan and team for a great race.

The course was fantastic and really exceeded expectations given the loss of Scalp. Managed to wring every twist and turn out of what was available and made for a really fun race.
