Marie Aronsson-StorrierJun 20 2025, 11:35amHi everyone, to celebrate IMRA Munster's first Backyard Ultra, Trail Criú Munster is organising a recce of the Kilworth Backyard course on Saturday 5 July. We will be running in a backyard format, so starting a loop every hour on the hour. In true TCM (and backyard!) form, we'll meet up for snacks and chats after each loop, as well as when we finish. There will be at least 3 groups moving at different speeds through the course, so it's a very beginner-friendly outing. Some of us are planning on running the race in September while others might be trying out the trails for the first time or just want a fun morning out! So if you want to join the fun and know anyone new to the trails (or to running), they can come for one loop and you can leave them in good company as you set out for another loop (or two :D). We'll meet at the Glansheskin carpark at 9.45am, ready to set off on loop 1 at 10am. All welcome!

Adrian Aronsson-StorrierJul 6 2025, 9:04pmWe had a great time recceing the route this weekend with Trail Criú Munster - lovely weather, brilliant company and good snacks in between the loops! One small tip for anyone else who is looking to get in a recce before race day (on the assumption we were running the correct route): the turn off to the left onto single trail track approx 1.8km into the course is easy enough to run past on your first recce when the route is unmarked - it runs parallel to the main trail but climbs upwards, so if you don't take it by the time you come to the left turn on the GPX file (shown as being just before 2km point on the 'plotaroute' map in the route description) you will have gone too far. The rest of the course is straightforward to follow on the GPS tracks. A few pictures from yesterday here: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DLxoz5esnHm/?igsh=NGpreGowdWd6OWo%3D
