Michael McSweeney | Apr 2 2025, 7:59pm | Stephen, If you open the Plotaroute Map on the event page, there is an option to download a GPX file in the drop down menu. |
Peter Doyle | Apr 4 2025, 10:55pm | Hi - I'm contemplating this race as its an ultra I've not done before. However, information on it seems quite scant given that this appears to be just its 2nd year. As an unmarked route how familiar do you have to be with the route? I've never run in the area before so is this a severe disadvantage or is route to run fairly clear? Obviously I can download the gpx file and use that but don't like the idea of having to 100% rely on that. See there is a info in the Organisers Instructions section of the 2024 race regarding cut offs and aid stations but based on the results seems that the 10hr cutoff for finishing was waived last year as many finished after that time - is that likely to be the case this year as well? And finally, what is available at the aid stations? Do runners need to be fully self sufficient in terms of carrying all food & drink or will there be food/ drink or drop bag options available at aid stations? Sorry for all the questions! Perhaps the need for the questions is a good hint that the event is not for me :-) |
Robbie Williams | Apr 5 2025, 10:32pm | Details updated now on page |
Andy owens | Apr 6 2025, 5:21pm | Hi all, you must remember that this ultra is 11klm longer than when Derek walked this route. So the finishing time should be a bit more generous. |

Robbie Williams | Apr 6 2025, 5:58pm | Yes but he walked the route and this is a run |

Imogen Boaden | Apr 17 2025, 3:23pm | Peter Doyle, I ran this ultra last year for the first time without a watch and managed to get round using my rough map and following those who looked like they knew what they were doing. I did get a wee bit lost but that's another story! It's a great race and I'd highly recommend it. Thanks Robbie for organising the camping. See you there. |
