| Robbie Williams | Apr 28 2024, 9:43pm | Note to all Irish Championship Runners. Due to certain constraints with access etc, the Carrauntohill route has now changed and has been reinvented as a full proper open mountain route. The new route will follow the Cronins Yard Trail to the highest point and then access the Bone via a grassy bank with steep climbing. There is some rocky terrain with some work for the hands also. You will top out on Maolan Buí, and then follow the ridge to Cnoic na Chuillin, Cnoc Na Toinne and on to Carrauntohill itself and return via same route. The estimate is that this will add 30min to elite times and 1 hour to mid pack times. Please look at event page and event page map for more info. This route brings Carrauntohill back to where it should be rightly, as one of the ultimate challenges of Mountain running, as part of the Irish Championships. As before, the weekend will include, Reeks Skyline, Vertical 800 and Cronins Yard loop. Thank you. |

Epic run, incredible scenery, for the little I could see through a salty brow. A special note goes to organisers, who provided stability, encouragement , and note of constant positivity when the orchestra of doom bellowed the relentless advance of another climb.
