John O ConnorJan 20 2024, 10:06pmIs it possible to do the race for a charity?
Robbie WilliamsJan 20 2024, 11:13pmIn terms of each person they can do for whatever they wish.

That is each persons own business if they wish

We’re just organizing the event
John O ConnorJan 20 2024, 11:26pmOk. Thanks Robbie
Irene FinneganJan 21 2024, 12:22pmIs there a GPX for this race or a map .... And do you know how much of road/trail/no paths/ etc is ......thanks ...and how many checkpoints....
Dara O'BrienJan 21 2024, 12:50pmHi Irene, the best GPX I’ve found is on the HiiKER app - E8 Coast to Coast. It starts at marlay park whereas this event start at Bray so that needs to be factored in.

The HiiKER route turns south just outside Killarney and heads for Dursey island whereas the event needs is to go northwest at that point and follow the Kerry way on to Valentia via the bridge.

So start and end need to be changed but the rest which is the vast majority is fairly accurate.
Dara O'BrienJan 21 2024, 12:51pmAlso, I think there is a book with maps - called the Ireland Coast to Coast walk
Eoin HamiltonJan 21 2024, 5:46pmIf there is any requirement for volunteers, I'd love to help out where possible.
Rex BrillantesJan 21 2024, 5:59pmSo there's a tracker. What if a runner go off course then join to the track in a short distance. It's like cutting it short. Is it allowed.?
Rex BrillantesJan 21 2024, 6:00pmWhat if a runner go off course then join to the track in a short distance. It's like cutting it short. Is it allowed.?
Robbie WilliamsJan 21 2024, 6:02pmNo
Gavan HenniganJan 21 2024, 6:33pmBuilt the route for the craic, could be some mistakes, tried to take direct lines when not on way marked trails.

Eric Llaurado OrtizJan 22 2024, 11:16amHi
Good to see the route, it looks like a long journey... I wonder if there will be any checkpoints / aid stations and places where to stop and rest or sleep or eat or have a shower etc?
Eoin HamiltonJan 22 2024, 11:24amStrava - Yack ;)

Use HiiKER :)
Robbie WilliamsJan 22 2024, 12:32pmEric and others

Please reread race description

Self sufficient

That means it is up to you and your crew to sort all this out.. failing that we can increase entry to €10,000 and make it all inclusive :)

Please do remember we are volunteering to make this happen
Eric Llaurado OrtizJan 22 2024, 12:52pmOk.
Fabio BaltieriJan 26 2024, 10:42amAny restrictions for crewing? Is pacing or muling allowed?
Robbie WilliamsJan 26 2024, 1:03pmNo restrictions on crewing as such

Just competitors need to carry their own mandatory kit.

kit will be announced in due course
PJ MeehanJun 7 2024, 12:41pm1 mile very overgrown section 2 miles after Fourmilewater on way towards Fermoy. Not sure which authority looks after this?
Robbie WilliamsJun 7 2024, 1:43pmDo you have a Google pin drop like by chance
Dara O'BrienJun 7 2024, 1:59pmHe showed me the photos of the owies on his knees Robbie … don’t know how the poor creature made it out alive!
Dara O'BrienJun 8 2024, 2:36pmHi Robbie,

Question for you - there’s at least one point where I’ll be collected from the course and be brought about 10km away to get a few hours sleep.

I’m assuming that’s fine as long as I get dropped back exactly where I was picked up.

I’m wondering how it works with the tracker though, it will obviously look like I’m way off course - do we need to notify someone when this happens to avoid getting calls and texts telling us we’re lost?
Ciaran CrokeJun 13 2024, 9:48amHi Robbie, with regards to the Map/Compass requirement, is it sufficient to have GPS device with gpx loaded?
Robbie WilliamsJun 13 2024, 5:12pmHi lads

This is all fine

I will send email next week

There will be a Rave Director for each section so you can just text whoever area it is to alter them that you are leaving course for a while.

Re : Navigation; any means of navigation is fine
They are all way marked trails except for the sections joining some Ways together
Dara O'BrienJun 13 2024, 5:18pmThanks Robbie.

Rave Directors? Sounds epic already !
Ciaran CrokeJun 13 2024, 6:02pmCheers Robbie.
Robbie WilliamsJun 14 2024, 4:10pmLads I’ll get an email out over next few days

We will keep things very simple anyway
Kirsty DalyJun 17 2024, 2:18pmI plotted the route on Hiiker, I'm pretty sure it's correct but don't blame me if it's not (",)

Lillian DeeganJun 17 2024, 9:57pmVery few sleeps left now till the strike of midnight for this gig - whoop whoop!

We have sent out our helper email and I’m on to see could we get one more person to help out with registration on the prom in Bray WW on Friday night for around 22:30 till 00:00.

Thanks
Christopher WilloughbyJun 17 2024, 10:29pmHi Lillian, I can help, will stick my name down.
Elaine CaseyJun 17 2024, 10:56pmI can help out, I live in Bray so it would be rude not to.
Lillian DeeganJun 18 2024, 8:26pmAsk and you shall receive… Thanks very much for offering here Andy, Chris, Elaine and young Erswell.

With us having a small ish field of hardy snipers in to race this one, prep for gun time will be real simple and swift enough. I just need a handful volunteers for reg. time.

Sooner than leave other IMRA events shy of helpers, I only needed one more set of hands for this gig. As Andy K dropped his name in 1st, I’m gonna run with that and decline graciously the other 3 offers. With us smash bang in the middle of our racing year, we have so many upcoming events that will need plenty of help. If ye can, maybe you might look to slip into some of those.

Thanks again guys.
Paul FlynnJun 19 2024, 10:49amIs there a link for the tracking on this one?

Robbie WilliamsJun 24 2024, 5:29amEast Cork Trail runners look to finish the relay in the next 2 hours which is 600km in approx 56 hours.

The gauntlet has well and truly been set down for future editions
Caroline ReidJun 24 2024, 6:28amWell done to all taking part...very exciting dot watching. Can't wait to hear race reports and pictures! What an amazing adventure!
Robbie WilliamsJun 24 2024, 12:49pmEast Cork AC have won the Coast to Coast Relay in a phenomenal time of 54 hours, 46min and 30sec.

Hard to see any team ever beating that ….

But let’s see what next year brings!
Niall CorriganJun 24 2024, 1:54pmAm I correct is saying there were only two athletes in the East Cork relay team?
Kevin O'BrienJun 24 2024, 5:18pmNo we had 15 running. One of the lads was joking along the way that it was just him and one other :)
Niall CorriganJun 24 2024, 11:08pmFantastic logistics as well as athletics. Well done on all fronts.
