Half marathon,
10k,
And 5k, there Will be no Marathon.
Conor McElroyNov 20 2024, 6:06pmGood evening all

We're delighted that the Glanageenty series will be on again in a little less than one month.

You'll notice for this round we have 3 races - the half marathon, 10km and 5km

The half marathon is part of the Munster Half Marathon league

We could use afew extra volunteers please.

For entrants:

This race course is legendary for reasons that will be obvious after one lap.

It's a fabulous roller coaster of single track, forest trails, short climbs, long climbs, fun descents and a fine bit of Kerry bog land thrown in too...what better way to spike the metabolism before the indulgence of Christmas?

With particular attention on the new 5km route - this would make a very attractive introduction to those new to the sport of trail and mountain running, so perhaps any of you already entered in the longer races can convince that friend or family member to enter and see what it's all about.

Please check the event page for either race to see the updated entrants capacity : (140, 70, 70)

Maria HouckDec 1 2024, 12:11pmHello, I’m running in the 10k and I had a question about shoes—would something like asics trabuco trail shoes be alright for this race? Or should I pick up something with more grip? I’ve not run this location before. Thanks!
Conor McElroyDec 1 2024, 6:13pmHi Maria

Thanks for the question

I've never used that particular shoe so I can't be certain - I would recommend that anyone not sure of what shoe type to use just try out the pair you have on steep muddy ground, muddy single track, grass and gravel, then make a decision based on what you're happy with - these are the conditions you will find in Glanageenty plus or minus lots of mud or ice depending on the weather

I hope that makes sense!

We have again increased the capacity for race entries:

half marathon to 170
10km to 90

This will be our final maximum number of entrants permitted for the half and 10km

See you on the trails!

Niamh AbeytaDec 4 2024, 4:52pmTrabuco trail runners are perfect for Glanageenty. I run there a lot, and that's what I wear. The trails are in great condition at the moment.
Darren CroweDec 6 2024, 4:55pmHi, quick question, a friend is trying to purchase an entry for the half as it’s showing 20 spaces left. When he goes to the shop it’s only possible to purchase 10k and 5k entries. Is it sold out or is there some other issues?
Bryan LaniganDec 6 2024, 7:58pmHi I am also trying to purchase for the half marathon and it’s telling me it’s sold out, can I still purchase thanks

Zita HoeyDec 13 2024, 10:47amHi, Is there an early start for the Half? Thank you,
Conor McElroyDec 13 2024, 12:38pmGood afternoon all

The emails to race entrants and volunteers have been sent out.

Volunteers please show at race registration (the trailhead) at 8am

If you haven't received your email, please post a message here with your email and we'll send you the instructions

All race participants and volunteers - please take note of car parking instructions in particular.

For Race Entrants - 2 car parking options exist

1. park at Clogher Church and then carpool in groups up to the trail head.
From there Car Park Marshalls will direct you towards another car parking area - please note it is 1.5km from race registration, so please give yourself plenty of time to register pre race.

(please prefer this option as car parking is particularly limited this year with the high number of race entrants)

2. Ignore Clogher church and drive straight up toward trail head and follow the Marshall's instructions.

Toilets available at race registration

Any questions, please ask

cheers

Robbie WilliamsDec 15 2024, 11:37amHuge THANK YOU to Conor Mc Elroy RD, John Lenihan, Loopers and all the landowners who helped make yesterday a fantastic trail running event.

Such a nice part of the country and nearly a secret. The route is unbelievable, if you havnt raced there yet your really should. The food in the pub afterwards was off the charts, the owner of the bar cooked full hams to make the sambos, who even gore to that trouble?’!

Lots of Xmas cake, savage veg soup and pudding too.

The atmosphere of the race is excellent with the Laps system too.

It’s defo a keeper

Thank you to everyone involved in organizing and to all who ran, really nice bunch of like minded folk.
