Andrew Coghlan | Apr 2 2023, 8:16pm | Ahhhh, that's such a disappointment. It was perfect on my schedule in May. August doesn't suit at all. (Crying emoji). |
Patricia Ryan | Jul 28 2023, 6:30pm | Registration is open for this epic race. Not for inexperienced open mountain runners. You must be able to navigate. |
Colm O'Neill | Aug 2 2023, 4:26pm | Hi, very much looking forwards to the event! Is the list of points to hit the same as listed here: https://www.irishmountainchallenges.com/galtee-crossing or will a list be provided on the IMRA page? Thanks and all the best |

Adam O'Reilly | Aug 21 2023, 5:55pm | Hi all, first time running this event and really looking forward to it now. Will there be a mandatory kit list posted in the next few days or is it just the usual rain jacket that is required? |
Patricia Ryan | Aug 21 2023, 8:29pm | Adam, as per details page the full kit will be listed in advance and conditions on the day will be taken into account. The kit will definitely be more than just the jacket as it's an self sufficient open mountain event. |
Patricia Ryan | Aug 22 2023, 11:24am | Mandatory Kit for Sunday will be waterproof jacket, map of area & compass, buff/hat, bivvy bag/foil blanket, phone turned on & volume up, enough water for the entire race (min 500ml), source of fuel/food. Subject to change. |
Gordon Wilson | Aug 23 2023, 12:31am | Hi Patricia, are poles permitted? I am training for an ultra in Slovenia in a few weeks and it would be good to train with them if possible. |
Patricia Ryan | Aug 23 2023, 8:49am | Yes, poles can be used Gordon. |

Maike Jürgens | Aug 28 2023, 11:26am | yup, it was so wet, the bog seems to have permanently attached to my feet ... report added. thanks for organising and volunteering |
John J Barry | Aug 28 2023, 9:55pm | A big cheer to Tricia and her team for hosting us today. another great day out in the hills! Seven years since I did it and I lost 90 minutes in that time. But maybe conditions & tireness also paid a part. Great meeting up with Maike and bouncing off nav options with her. Think we were the only group to take the staight line from Moavane which worked out pretty well.. |
Denis Mc glynn | Aug 28 2023, 11:46pm | A big thank you to Patricia and all the crew. Fantastic event that had everything. Extremely well organised. Everyone were so helpful especially Tom who kept me right the whole race. Hopefully I can join you all again next year. |
Anthony Cornforth | Aug 29 2023, 1:03am | Big shout of thanks to Tricia and all the volunteers for bringing this epic race to the calendar. What an amazing and unforgettable way to appreciate the Galtees. |

Angeline Dresser | Sep 4 2023, 12:43pm | Hi, does anyone know where I can find a gps file for this? Also, I did a race back in June and got a shoe tracker and race number. When I entered the race I saw there was an option for replacement number and tracker. Should I have purchased these or will a number and tracker be provided specifically for this race? Thank you Angeline |
Angeline Dresser | Sep 4 2023, 12:45pm | Sorry, think I’ve posted on the wrong forum! |
Graham K. Bushe | Sep 4 2023, 12:57pm | Hi Angeline, I'm not sure where you intended to post, but I'll reply here. Your race number is issued to you for a calendar year [your number for 2023 is 2980] You should keep this for any other races you run in 2023. Your Timing Chip can be used over a number of years. At your first race each year, your timing chip is linked to your new number. If you lose your Number or Chip, you can purchase replacements in the shop. I hope this helps. g |
Angeline Dresser | Sep 4 2023, 1:28pm | Ah, thank you. That’s a good system. I hadn’t realised that’s how it worked so I think my number and chip are probably back in England. If I purchase replacements now would I be able to collect them from galtee challenge registration? Thanks Angeline |
Angeline Dresser | Sep 4 2023, 2:34pm | Thank you Graham! |
