Gerry Brady | Jun 24 2016, 11:00pm | Iosac Coleman will make his mountain running debut tomorrow in the International Youth Cup in the Czech Republic. Iosac won the open Leinster league race in Carrick this year and the uphill course will suit him. Trial winner Alex Hunter was sixth to the top of Croagh Patrick last year. Cian McDonald is as tough as his dad who was 2nd in an IMRA race last week despite entering the M60 category. Jack McCullough from Dunleer completes the boy's team having rushed to the airport for a lunchtime flight after finishing his last exam! The girl's team is well-balanced with Eva Roche being the most experienced. She is joined by trial winner Caelainn McQuaid and DSD duo Aisling King and Aoife Colleran. Northern Ireland have a strong boys team that should pack well. James H Cahill | Jun 26 2016, 12:58am | Well done everybody. I had the good fortune to see lots of talented youngsters in the trials. Everyone with great futures in running (and hopefully particularly in Mountain Running). Those who made the team, did themselves and Ireland proud and will only improve for their experience. There is also a great pool of talent in those who didnt quite make the team this year, and there's a great future for mountain running ahead. Well done everyone. |
