Gerry Brady | May 24 2015, 8:01pm | The senior men and women and junior men will run the Wicklow Way to the top of Djouce. On the climb from the Dargle, keep to the right of the wall i.e. do not cross the stile. The Youths trial will start at 12 noon, 30 minutes after the senior start. The course starts around 400m from the car park. The lap is 1900m with 110m climb. Boys do 3 laps and girls 2 laps. The race starts at a T-junction on the WW and after 100m it turns right up a grass gully for around 400 metres. Turn left at the top of this gully and run along a forest road for 500m. When you reach a tall solitary tree, turn left down a steep descent for around 300m. Turn left at the bottom of this onto the Wicklow Way and back to finish the first lap! |

Gerry Brady | Jun 6 2015, 7:01pm | Results in race report on event page. Thanks to all of the volunteers and congratulations to the athletes. Brian MacMahon edged out Ian Conroy and James Kevan in a fast time of 32:35 for Crone Wood to the summit of Djouce. |
Aidan Blighe | Jun 10 2015, 10:57am | Hi Gerry, Just wondering who qualifies to race? In the case where only 2 show up for the senior ladies do both automatically qualify? Thanks |
Gerry Brady | Jun 10 2015, 11:54pm | Hi Aidan In general an athlete should be at least capable of finishing within 5% of the trial winner’s time and 10% of the international race winners. For Crone Wood to Djouce this would roughly mean under 34 minutes for senior men, under 36-37 minutes for junior men, and under 38-39 minutes for senior women. Athletics Ireland generally use much more difficult standards but they have a bigger pool to select from. Gerry |
