Getting There

There is limited parking at Slish wood, please carpool where possible. Do not park blocking any access gates as this would block an emergency vehicles access.

The Route

The route is 5km in distance and is an out and back trail to Lough Lumman. The route will be marked with yellow and red IMRA flags and tape throughout. It will start at the bottom of hill at the new trail. The route climbs for the first 1.5km on gravel trail then turns into single track. Please be respectful of other participants here as the ground will be slippery if wet. The turnaround point is Lough Lumman, make sure to stop and take in the view before the return journey. Be respectful of incoming runners here and control your speed on the descent as this is not a race and times will not be given. Once back on the wide gravel trail it is all downhill to the finish for 1.5km.

Important

The run is not timed but for safety reasons there if you do not reach the 2km point with in 45minutes you will be turned asked to take the turnaround point then back to the finish line.

All Runners MUST carry/wear a rainproof jacket for the entirety of the race. Any runner found not to be carrying the mandatory jacket will be disqualified. This is for health and safety reasons. We will be checking!

To reduce plastic waste there will only be paper cups provided for water for this event, even better if you can bring your own cup or keep cup. You are asked to only use one cup and not take additional. Jugs will be available to refile your cup.

Please follow the Leave No Trace principles for respecting the environment and the forest trails - https://www.leavenotraceireland.org/education/education-introduction/

IMRA is entirely run by volunteers, we strongly encourage everyone to volunteer so that we can all enjoy participating in events, if you've any questions about volunteering or knowing more about what's involved, please ask!

Volunteers (Non-Running)

You need to have done 2 non-running volunteer roles in a calendar year to qualify for end of year prize

Volunteers (Running)

Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
