Route Description:
Mám Éan is a route with some stunning views, as you can see in the photos above. The route can be viewed here: https://www.plotaroute.com/route/2704447?units=km This course is predominantly an "out and back", with some variation in the middle section. For the first approx 1.5km runners will follow the main path, which is a rocky path. Runners will then follow a minor path up the side the hill towards the chapel. From there runners will be directed across the hill and back towards the main path by signs and marshalls. Runners will follow the main path, featuring a mix of rocky terrain and grassy light trail on a mostly downhill section until the turning point at approx 4.2km. Runners will return along the same path for approx 2km before being directed onto minor grassy trail on to the section below the chapel, before rejoining the main path for the final 1.3km. From there it's all downhill back to the finish line, with a view of the 12 Bens in the distance as you approach the finish line. There Junior course is approx 3.5km, with 170m elevation gain. The route covers a lot of loose rocky terrain, so please be advised that it is technical.

Volunteers (Non-Running)

You need to have done 2 non-running volunteer roles in a calendar year to qualify for end of year prize

Volunteers (Running)

Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
