Organisers Instructions:
Start/finish will be at Shay Elliott car park which is the high point on the road between Laragh and Glenmalure grid reference T130 922. The course will all be on the car park side of the road
You will need to have a copy of the East West Lugnaquilla & Glendalough 1:25,000 map available from East West mapping. You will also need a pen or pencil to mark out the controls which will be given out as a list of 6 digit grid references and descriptions of the control. A master map will be available 5 minutes after the start to allow you to double check the placement of your control. For anyone new to these type of events don’t be put off by having to mark your own map there will help on hand if you need it. Also don’t be put off by the scramble at the start to get the map marked and away running, 5 to 10 minutes spent getting your map right and making a plan is time well spent
The long course will probably get done in 16-17K but will hopefully have many route options to be decided on.
The short course; I am going back to a beginner level short course most controls can be reached on tracks and trails but direct lines will be shorter 7-9K

As this is a naviational challenge, it is forbidden to use GPS or any other electronic navigational aids. Kit check will be carried out before the start please have everything on the list.

The course will close at 15:30 anyone struggling get all controls should think about heading to the finish by 15:00.

Volunteers (Running)

Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
