Route Description:
The race is 6.4km over a mixture of river walk, fire road, forest trail and grassy paths. The race starts with a flattish first kilometer along the narrow path that runs next to the stream. After this it breaks onto a gradual uphill fire road bringing you to the other car park on the Kilmurry side of the forest. Follow the path as it continues to rise up to the top of the woods. Here you will turn right into the woods for a short section of forest trail before rejoining the fire road and turning right. Follow the fire road and the you turn left onto a grassy path that will be a gradual uphill before a right hand downhill bringing you to another bit of fire road. After going left on the fire road continue straight ahead where you will enter the woods through a gap in the trees. A bit of twisting and turning here until you hit the boundary wall of the woods. Run along the perimeter wall until you exit the woods and back onto the fire road. Turn left and run down the fire road which will bring you all the way back to the finish. The last 1.6km will be the same path from the start of the race but running in the opposite direction. https://www.plotaroute.com/mobile/route/2671046?units=km
Getting There:
From Cork: After passing O'Learys garage in Lissarda on the N22 take the 2nd left. Follow this quiet road for about 1km until you come to a crossroads. Turn left at the junction here and the forestry entrance is just there on the right hand side. From Macroom: Drive towards Lissarda on the N22, take the first right after crossing the bridge and rounding the bend by Lissardagh Manor. Follow as above. https://maps.app.goo.gl/Lvum8K9GHucHoFfg7
Organisers Instructions:
Please car pool where possible as parking us limited. There is another car park on the Kilmurry side of the woods which is approx 1.6k to the race start, perfect for a nice warm up & could own :)

Volunteers (Non-Running)

You need to have done 2 non-running volunteer roles in a calendar year to qualify for end of year prize

Volunteers (Running)

Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
