Stella Chesang (UGA) won the junior women’s race in the 30th World Mountain Running Championships. Chesang finished fourth in the World Junior Championships 5000m in 15:53. Joshua Cheptegei (UGA) who is the reigning World junior 10000m champion (28:32) had a very convincing victory in the junior men’s race. Andrea Mayr won her fifth title in the senior women’s race. Sarah McCormack had a solid run in 15th position as did Sarah Mulligan in 20th. The Irish team finished 8th and showed again that this is a category that Ireland can win medals in. Ugandan Isaac Kiprop led a medal sweep in the senior men’s race with Eritrea in 2nd place.
