Hi Joe,

For the Nav 2 race on the events page, it has the start location as 'Forest entrance O 108056'. As per East West maps, this is at 'The Fall Bog' west of Lough Dan but there's not much of a forest entrance in the vicinity. Does the grid reference need to be updated on the events page?

Cheers,
Jason.
Alan AylingAug 26 2018, 8:13pmMy Eastwest (might be older version?) has a forest entrance there alright. Well maybe O 107056 but close enough. Sheet 56 is in broad agreement. Harder to tell on the trusty old Sheet 16... ;-)
John B RiordanAug 27 2018, 8:58amHappened across this link recently which folk may find useful for quick online sense check generally https://irish.gridreferencefinder.com/
... using the various grid ref estimates all point to the forest entrance off Military Road alright (about 2-3k WNW of L Dan)
Grand place for a nav challenge :-)
Joe LalorAug 27 2018, 10:52amForested identified on E/W map as Carrgeenduff, the Fall Bog must be a warning. In the past the hardest part was finding the start. The parking at forest entrance is quite small with a few extra place further south along military road so bunch up please.
Joe LalorAug 27 2018, 2:42pmI am re posting this message from last week as I just noticed that Jason missed it and started a new tread under the same name, better to keep it in the one tread

NC2 on Sept. 8th, start/ Finish at entrance to Carrigeenduff forest O 108056. Usual position re parking, quite limited spaces. Could runners meet up in Roundwood or Rathfarnham and bunch up. Those coming from MCI hut please travel up in full cars.
Long course about 17km, (depending on route choice) over rough ground that can be reduced by good route choices.
Short course 9km with easy nav.
Leo MahonAug 27 2018, 7:12pmHope there is no Nav challenge on Saturday 8th sept I would be minus very valuable volunteers cheers Leo
Joe LalorAug 27 2018, 8:58pmSorry Leo, the gremlins are at it again. NC2 on Sunday next is the 2nd.

James H CahillSep 2 2018, 11:35pmThank you Joe and Nora, Alice and Jim and running volunteers for a great day in the hills. I can use the term "great" now post run. There were plenty of moments out there that did not feel so great. Tough course and the ferny wall of death to control 3 was a particular highlight. (I acknowledge that I totally ignored your pre-race briefing instruction in relation to that route choice Joe! - but I got my punishment and emerged from the ferns minus compass which added a certain je need sais quoi to the remaining three controls) Great day, great route, thank you all.
John B RiordanSep 3 2018, 7:52amSuper event, very well thought out and the weather was a welcome boost. Thanks to all for the immense effort that goes into pulling it all together and for the subtle route choices embedded. John, Eoin and Cuan
Alan AylingSep 3 2018, 10:27amBack for more next week John? Eoin will surely be looking for the chance to get even?! :-)
Conor O'FarrellSep 3 2018, 2:55pmThanks Joe, Nora, Alice and Jim for organising the race yesterday. There was a great turnout on what was a fabulous day.

Conor
Justin ReaSep 3 2018, 4:09pmHaving come joint first at the IMC Hut Al Fresco dining the night before, I have attempted to explain my DNF for this event. See race report.

Thanks Joe et al for opportunity to learn
John B RiordanSep 4 2018, 3:29pmgreat report Justin, most of us (hopefully not including young Cuan!) will be able to identify with the pain :-) See you all next Sunday for more.
John MurraySep 5 2018, 9:27amDragged myself out of bed thinking Nav2 would be a great way to warm down after the Stones to Lug the day before. Man was I wrong! lol Loved the route but man it was a tough slog with plenty of bush whacking through head height ferns and dense forestry! I think I shed a tear trying to find that last forest ride! lol

Thanks Joe and team for a great day out in a scorcher of a day!

@Nora - I just checked my purchase history and emails and I was mistaken...I didn't pre-register as thought. I must of got myself mixed up with my purchase for Nav1 and Stones to Lug. I'm pre-registered now for Nav3 on Sunday and bring along my voucher card and have it stamped for Nav2 if thats ok?
Nora LalorSep 5 2018, 11:11amAbsolutely fine John easy to mix up events, glad you enjoyed it !!!!
Karen DevenneySep 5 2018, 8:29pmBig thanks to Joe, Nora and co for a lovely day out. Results are now up, please email me karen.devenney at imra dot ie if there any issues
Sandra PegmanSep 6 2018, 3:46pmHi Joe & Nora. Thanks for the Nav Challenge on Sunday. I don’t appear in the final results - I came in directly behind Andy Hanney & Lisa Howley and checked in when I finished. Thanks very much
Nora LalorSep 6 2018, 3:49pmI had noticed & was emailing Karen when I saw your post, missed in transcription sorry. Nora
Lorcan FarrellSep 6 2018, 4:26pmHi Nora, Dermot McNamara's time was 1:22 rather than 1:12, he came in just after me on Sunday.
Sandra PegmanSep 6 2018, 6:55pmHi Nora. Thank you very much for that. Easily done. Yourself & Joe worked so hard on Sunday and it was a brilliant day. Much appreciated. Take care
Eoghan HughesSep 6 2018, 8:07pmHi Nora and Joe, thank you for the brilliant day on Sunday.

I think there was a typo on my time, I did the route with Alistor and finished right behind him. On the provisional results below I was listed below Alistor as 1:37:33 but i think it should of been 1:27:35 as I was just right behind him when we finished.

214 Alistor Hodgett 1:27:33
2738 Eoghan Hughes 1:37:35
