There are small lay-bys that may accommodate a few cars closer to the start. Race volunteers will prioritise available spaces for full cars. Please park your car in a way that does not obstruct barriers, gates or other vehicles.

This is a busy little road; please be mindful of cyclists and other road users when traveling to and from the start/finish.
Organisers Instructions:
Important Times
Registration: 1030am to 1130am.
Early Start: 1100am for runners typically 160% or more of winning time.
Race Start: 12noon

Navigation: Participants must self-navigate in Championship races, including the Dargle Four Peaks. A map and compass can be used to assist with navigation. GPS cannot be used. This includes having a quick look at a map on your phone to check your location. A phone must be carried but should you use it, or any other electronic device, to navigate during the race you must declare yourself non-competitive and return to the finish taking the shortest safe route possible.

Mandatory Kit: Due to the nature of this race, the following MUST be carried:
1. Waterproof Jacket (hood)
2. Whistle
3. Race area map (Recommend EastWest Mapping WIcklow East 1:25,000)
4. Compass
5. Mobile phone (charged)
6. Water & food to sustain you over the course of the race

This race takes place in fairly remote and rough mountain terrain with weather conditions that can rapidly and unexpectedly change. This kit is the bare minimum that should be carried. Each runner should consider their ability, experience and the possible conditions and carry any additional items that might be needed to manage their personal safety.
Regardless, to ensure fairness to all, the above items must be carried throughout the race. Kit may be checked before, during and after the race. Failure to carry all items will result in disqualification.
Prizegiving Location:
Finish line area.
No pub, but there will be nice refreshments etc waiting for you when you cross the line to fuel your cool-down 'jog' back to the car. It would be worth bringing a change of clothes to the start line which you can change into after the race (no valuables please - we are not taking responsibility for lost or stolen property).

Volunteers (Non-Running)

You need to have done 2 non-running volunteer roles in a calendar year to qualify for end of year prize

Volunteers (Running)

Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
