Organisers Instructions:
Welcome to the Howth Summer Race 2023. Some Race Rules
A showerproof jacket must be carried / worn at all times during IMRA races. Please have this jacket visible when you cross the finish line. Unfortunately, there is no self timing at IMRA events. Please be respectful of this beautiful location - littering will lead to a disqualification. Unfortunately, no transfers or refunds can be processed for IMRA events. No need for headphones for this one folks so please don’t have them on during the race. Registration
If this is your first race of the year then please register for yearly IMRA membership first and then purchase an entry for this race. You can then collect your race number and timing chip on the night which you keep for each future IMRA race. Online registration closes at 12pm on the day of the race so if you’re not in, you can’t win! You cannot buy an entry for this race on the night it must be done online before the closing time. Unfortunately, the legendary IMRA vouchers, cold hard cash, Bitcoin, or the even more legendary naked warrior dances are no longer accepted on the night. Sign in
Once you have a valid entry for this race you must sign in on the night of the event. Please sign in early at the Summit Inn Pub. Sign in on the night closes at 19:00pm as we have to relocate to the race start down at the entrance to the Quarry which is a warm up distance of 5-10 minutes away. Start Times
The main race will then start at 19.30pm. Early start will be available at 19.00pm for those who qualify for it. To qualify you must have over 160% of winner’s time. Please do not join the early start if you’re faster than 160% of a winner’s time as we like to keep the early start as fair and as competitive as possible. Junior Race
The most important race on the night! All juniors must be registered with IMRA and have purchased an online race entry in order to compete. The race will start at 19.35pm. The course is just over 4kms long. Under 11's need to be accompanied by an adult in the Junior Race. Ages 12 and upwards can run by themselves, but, make sure to follow the markings! Volunteers (Non-Running)

You need to have done 2 non-running volunteer roles in a calendar year to qualify for end of year prize

Volunteers (Running)

Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
