Route Description:
2023 route is DIFFERENT to previous years. It will be run in an ANTI-clockwise direction and include technical trails instead of the fire road section on the Northern part of the route. It will be a total of 25km with 1200m+ of elevation. As per previous years, much of this route follows the wall, and is sparsely marked along those sections. Any direction changes WILL carry the usual IMRA markings to show you the way. Runners will start from the Car park and head STRAIGHT UP to the wall, following it to the summit of Knockmealdown and then descending along the wall eastwards. At the 8km mark, two marshals will man the cut-off point (12:30pm). They will NOT have water. Continue northwards following the IMRA markings toward Crohan West before descending to the Liam Lynch Monument. There WILL be water here. This is the second cut-off point (11km). You will need to be here by 1:30pm. Another 14km to go! Now the route changes and you will be following new, technical trails in and out of the valleys on the Northern slopes. At around the 18km you re-join the East Munster Way (heading westward) and continue to follow IMRA signs back to Bay Lough at the start. The last 2km are a good climb. Enjoy.

Volunteers (Running)

Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
