Route Description:

This is an extension of the old course, and was used for the first time in the 2010 race. There are two variations from the old route (both out and back). The route no longer takes the off-Wicklow Way shortcut between Curtlestown and Crone woods, but instead remains on the Wicklow way (i.e. it takes the same route as the WW relay). The turnaround point has been moved down to the lower Ballinastoe woods car park. These changes result in an increase in the length of the route to a little over 50km, and approximatly 200 metres of additional climb.

A Google Earth KML file of the route is available here. If you have Google Earth installed on your computer you can download this file and use it to explore the route.

Organisers Instructions:

Please note that the entry fee for this race will be 15 Euros. If you have not run any other race this year then you will also have to pay the 10 Euro IMRA annual registration fee.

Strict cut-off times will be imposed at each of the aid points along the route. These are:

  1. Balinastoe (halfway): 13:00
  2. Crone Woods Car Park (return): 14:45
  3. Curtlestown Car Park (return): 15:30

Also please note the earlier start time for this race. For any runners who feel that they may have difficulty with the cut-offs early starts will be facilitated - there will be an early start at 8:30am.

Kit Requirements: A raincoat, hat and gloves will be required to be carried by all runners.

Volunteers (Non-Running)

You need to have done 2 non-running volunteer roles in a calendar year to qualify for end of year prize

Volunteers (Running)

Check with race director if they have a need for people volunteering and running. Race directors need a minimum number of people available throughout the race to make the race work so non-running volunteers are preferable. While it can be helpful, volunteering in a volunteer and race capacity does not count towards qualifying for end of year prize
